Brent Lumley
Chief Quality Officer (CQO)
With over 29 years of dedicated experience in social care, my journey began in a local authority children’s home, where I supported young people facing emotional and behavioural challenges, as well as learning disabilities. After qualifying as a social worker in 2002, I set out to broaden my impact in the field.
I embraced new opportunities with the Sure Start Local Programme, leading a diverse, multi-disciplinary team that included health practitioners, mental health professionals, family support workers, speech and language therapists, and midwives. This rich experience deepened my commitment to making a difference, ultimately guiding me to Barnardo’s, where I served as a Service Manager for Young Carers and later as a regional consultant.
In 2012, I returned to statutory local authority services, taking on key roles in children’s safeguarding as both Service Manager and Head of Service. In these positions, I was responsible for statutory regulated services in residential care, fostering, and adoption, and served as the Assistant Director of Quality and Improvement for Slough Children’s Trust.
In November 2021, I joined the Hesley Group as Director of Quality, driven by my passion for creating positive change in the lives of those in care. I believe in empowering teams to achieve excellence, recognising that collaboration is essential for meaningful transformation. With this ‘one team’ approach, I am committed to driving progress in our services, striving every day to inspire outstanding practice and better outcomes for the individuals we serve.
