With a lifelong passion for social care, I began my journey at the age of 14, working in an elderly care home. I later expanded my experience by supporting people with learning disabilities in day services and even driving an old black cab around London, helping homeless individuals find shelter and assisting people with addictions in accessing detox services. The extraordinary lives and unique experiences of the people I encountered fascinated me, and I felt privileged to contribute positively to their stories.
Inspired by this work, I decided to pursue a career in care, this path eventually led me to university, where I earned a BA in Community Care Management and a diploma in social work. After 4-5 years as a qualified social worker in London and Cheshire, I found myself moving into management roles. While I hadn’t originally planned on becoming a manager or Director, I recognised the positive impact I could have on a larger scale within the social care sector.
Before joining the Hesley Group in 2012, I gained extensive experience in business development within major private organisations focused on learning disabilities and mental health. In my current role, I am dedicated to building sustainable, high-quality partnerships with commissioners and those who benefit from our services. By thoroughly understanding their needs and aligning our approach with both national and local priorities, I aim to deliver tailored solutions that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
